He was at UnitingCare West's Tranby Centre late one sunny morning, in Perth, Western Australia...so i asked him to smile.

🙏❤️ This the #1 of 5, in our collaboration with UCW and their #TransformTranby initiative. The images are part of the #EndHomelessnessWA campaign, and were made in Perth, at UCW's inner city 'Tranby' centre.

I spent two days there meeting and making images of people who were strangers to me. This mini-series coincidentally also marks so i asked them to smile's 300th smile.

Making these images was a different challenge to the ones I am used to. Creatively, we limited the images to the Tranby Centre alone, and also I had foreseen people's reluctance to being photographed in a support centre. It is easy to forget there is stigma attached to getting help, regardless of if the need is genuine.
